Marker towers create a rigid, three-dimensional reference frame around the object. Because the markers sit on the tower rather than on the part, you can scan small, delicate or finished parts without touching their surface, and flip the part between scans while keeping alignment.
The irregular and Z-shaped geometries avoid repeating patterns, which helps the scanner recognise its position reliably.
